A Partial Solar Eclipse is happening on April 8th. What you need to know

It will be possible to experience a partial solar eclipse on April 8th, in which the moon partially hides the sun, but does not totally cover it.

The partial solar eclipse will begin at 2:12 p.m. and end at 4:37 p.m. At 3:27 p.m., the sun will have approximately 85% coverage. Observing a solar eclipse can be a mesmerizing experience, but be careful to protect your eyes. You’ll need to get yourself a pair of specially designed solar viewing glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 international safety standard. You can purchase solar eclipse viewing glasses at Milford Pharmacy, Lowes, or REI. Additionally, solar lenses for your cameras can be purchased at Milford Photo.

Be sure to wear your solar viewing glasses throughout the whole event and never look directly at the sun without proper eye protection.  While the eclipse is happening, you should watch the shadows and light changing around you. Animals may react to the eclipse’s effects even at 85%, so watch for changes in their behavior.

Enjoy!
